About Dr. Nerella

Dr. Resheek Nerella grew up in India, where he completed his medical education at Rangaraya Medical College, graduating in 2023. During medical school, he undertook a five-month sub-internship in the United States, gaining exposure to diverse clinical settings. In 2023, Dr. Nerella expanded his research expertise by working in the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia. Concurrently, he was actively involved in clinical research focused on surgical oncology and anesthesia at the same institution. Driven by his research interests, Dr. Nerella joined the Department of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, where he further honed his research skills from 2023 to 2024. In 2024, he began his residency as a preliminary general surgery resident at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Nerella’s primary clinical focus includes managing complex surgical pathologies, and he is particularly interested in exploring opportunities in vascular surgery and complex minimally invasive surgeries.

Research

During his research fellowship in the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG), Augusta, Dr. Resheek Nerella gained proficiency in fundamental laboratory techniques such as gel electrophoresis, spectroscopy, western blotting, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry. These experiences equipped him with a strong foundation in molecular biology research.

His subsequent research at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) further developed his expertise, particularly in statistical analysis and large data evaluation. Dr. Nerella performed advanced statistical analyses using software tools like SPSS and GraphPad Prism, while also working extensively with large-scale datasets such as NSQIP and TQIP. His work at UICOMP and MCG also involved acquiring skills in conducting systematic reviews and critically analyzing scientific literature, further enriching his research capabilities.
