Course Information
The Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC) is an American College of Surgeons (ACS) course that educates participants on the recommended team approach to the assessment, resuscitation, and transfer of the trauma patient. It is specifically for clinicians in non-trauma centers. Didactic and team scenario components of the course address topics such as airway, breathing, circulation, disability, thermal injury, transfer to definitive care, special considerations, performance improvement and patient safety, and teamwork and communication.
Target Audience
The target audience consists of members of the interdisciplinary team that cares for trauma patients in the center the course is taking place in: physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, prehospital personnel, technicians, and administrative support.
CME
The American College of Surgeons is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The American College of Surgeons designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 8 AMA PRA Category one Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Of the AMA PRA Category one Credits listed above, a maximum of 8.00 credits meet the requirements for Self-Assessment. The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) accepts AMA PRA Category one Credits issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.
Other non-physician participants will receive a certificate of course completion that they can use to claim credits from their respective credentialing entities.
Per AMA requirements, PRA Category one credit can only be offered to MDs/DOs. If you are an advanced practice clinician taking this course you will receive a completion certificate to take to your accrediting body for conversion of your appropriate hours
CNE
This activity will provide eight nursing contact hours. Penn Medicine – Nursing is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, Approval #124-3-H-15, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Penn Medicine – Nursing, Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center does not endorse any commercial interest.
Participants must attend entire program and complete an evaluation to receive credit. Partial credit will not be awarded.
