The Visiting Clerkship Programs for Students Underrepresented in Medicine (UIM VCP) encompass numerous opportunities for 4th year medical students to explore rotations at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Hospital, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Pennsylvania Hospital in a number of subspecialties. The UIM VCP sponsored by the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, provides financial and professional support for talented fourth year medical students who are underrepresented in medicine, to participate in the robust Penn EM Sub-Internship. The program is designed to increase exposure of underrepresented medical students to Penn EM.

In addition to participating in the standard Penn EM Sub-I, students will be paired with a faculty member and housestaff officer to serve as mentor and advisor. Visiting students will also have opportunities to interact with other Penn Medicine underrepresented faculty and housestaff. Accepted applicants will receive up to $1500 reimbursement for travel, housing, and application expenses.

The program requires a separate application in addition to the standard visiting elective application. Due Date: April 21, 20xx.
