Amongst other milestones, the Department of Ophthalmology celebrated the establishment of the first annual Vision Science Symposium in 2023—followed by a successful second Symposium this year.
The Vision Science Symposium stems from the collective ambition of our faculty to enhance research collaboration, integrate diverse scientific disciplines, and showcase groundbreaking advancements in vision science.
The 2024 Symposium brought together experts from various specialties, such as neurology and cellular and molecular biology (CAMB), both fostering and celebrating the Department of Ophthalmology’s interdisciplinary collaborations.
In addition, we had the honor of hosting featured speakers Chair Emeritus Stuart L. Fine, MD, FM Kirby Center President Justin Kiczek, and Nobel Prize Laureate Drew Weissman, MD, PhD.
