The Scheie Eye Institute welcomes Angela Veloudios, MD, FACS, an acclaimed ophthalmologist with years of clinical experience and expertise in oculoplastic surgery, as well as comprehensive ophthalmology. Dr. Veloudios attended the prestigious Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at The City College of New York, an accelerated six-year program combining BS and MD degrees with The State University of New York Upstate Medical Center, graduating with honors. Following her internship at St. Vincent's Hospital, a major trauma center in New York City, she was appointed Co-Chief Resident during her Ophthalmology Residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Veloudios then completed a coveted fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The University of Toronto, part of a select group who have received the nationally recognized accreditation and certification for this subspecialty in Ophthalmology.
Dr. Veloudios then served as Co-Director of the Oculoplastics Clinic at The Eye Institute of Cooper University Hospital, while continuing to serve as active Attending Surgeon at Virtua Memorial Hospital and The Wills Eye Surgical Center.
In addition to her years in private practice, she has lectured extensively and published numerous journal articles on various topics in her subspecialty. Prior to joining our community, Dr. Veloudios was an Attending Ophthalmologist in the Department of Cataract and Primary Eye Care at The Wills Eye Hospital, serving as a Clinical Instructor for the Ophthalmology Residency Program and offering private patient appointments for comprehensive eye care.
Since recently joining Penn Medicine as a clinician in the Department of Ophthalmology, Dr. Veloudios has maintained an active patient base in southern New Jersey, and is treating patients with a wide variety of eye conditions at the Scheie Eye Institute's new Marlton location. Dr. Veloudios also sees comprehensive ophthalmology patients at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, in addition to the Scheie Eye Institute, serving as an attending for the residency program.
Outside of Scheie, Dr. Veloudios' professional memberships include the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, American College of Surgeons, and American Academy of Ophthalmology.
