Meet the residents of Pennsylvania Hospital's Department of Internal Medicine.
Message from the Chiefs
Welcome visitors! We’re the Chief Residents for the 2024-2025 academic year and we’re thrilled you’re taking the time to check out the Pennsy residency page.
Storytime: In the early weeks of our residency, a group of us interns gathered at our co-intern Bassam’s apartment and discovered he hadn’t yet assembled his new Ikea furniture. Without hesitation, we rolled up our sleeves and set to work, assembling each piece until his living room was complete. That moment, epitomizing our camaraderie and sense of togetherness, made us realize that Pennsy is more than just an Internal Medicine residency. Year after year, we see our program’s residents building lifelong friendships and fostering new career connections while evolving into outstanding physicians.
As chief residents, our aim is to nurture and grow this positive program culture, support residents during their training, and coordinate educational content. We also strive to develop our own skills in role-modeling, leading, and teaching. Throughout the year, we recognize residents who are thriving, provide support to those in need of guidance, and act as central connectors within our entire program network. We also coordinate with social representatives to organize program events that bring our group together and take part in noon conferences and other lectures to teach residents daily.
In line with our goals, we’ve already made incremental improvements in the program such as building a new resident website, refining the resident schedule calendar, and making daily conference recordings and slides available online. Looking ahead, we’re excited to elevate the program even more by creating networks to promote research and other scholarly activities, and by equipping our inpatient teams a new set of iPads for clinical use.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Pennsy’s program and we hope this gives you a better sense of life here. We look forward to your applications and hope to meet you on interview day.
Warmly,
Oliver & Ajit
