What inspires me about GI: The gastrointestinal system has diverse functions that impact human health far beyond what people most commonly consider when they think about the gut or liver. The common nature of GI disorders offers so many opportunities to impact the lives of people both clinically and with research. This makes it a hugely exciting field for me.
My hobbies: I enjoy cooking, traveling to other parts of the world and trying different cuisines, watching football (soccer), and reading science fiction.
Why did I choose Penn: I choose Penn because of the opportunity to serve a diverse patient population, the excellence of clinical medicine that I have seen practiced here through residency, the quality of GI faculty, and the high caliber basic science, translational, and clinical research which are institutional priorities.
