More About Dr. McCardell
Tyler McCardell, MD, EMT-IT, NCEE began his EMS career as a volunteer EMT during undergraduate studies, then later obtained Advanced EMT certification. During medical school, he served as EMS Chief at Wakefield Ambulance, where he was instrumental in expanding the role of Intermediate ALS care in rural Lancaster County. As a nationally certified EMS educator, he has taught BLS, ALS, and Instructor-level courses to hundreds of students.
After graduation from medical school, Tyler moved to Pittsburgh and joined the Peebles District Volunteer Fire Company, becoming a Firefighter-I and Vehicle Rescue Technician. While an emergency medicine resident at Allegheny General Hospital, he was selected as a Chief Resident and worked extensively with AHN LifeFlight as an Assistant Medical Director.
In his free time, Tyler enjoys travelling to national parks and going on trips to the mountains with his wife, Megan, and chocolate lab, Koda.
