More About Dr. Mulcahy
Brendan Mulcahy, DO is the EMS Medical Director for Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital. He has been actively involved in EMS and Fire since the age of 18. Dr. Mulcahy began his public safety career as a volunteer firefighter at Crystal Fire Department and EMT at St. Marys Area Ambulance in his hometown. He then went to Duquesne University where he received his BS in Health Sciences and MPAS in Physician Assistant Studies. In the 14 years he lived in Pittsburgh, Dr. Mulcahy was heavily involved in the EMS community. He worked as a Prehospital Physician Extender (PHPE) and ultimately an Operational Supervisor for Ross/West View EMSA. He holds certifications in structural firefighting and several facets of rescue, including vehicle rescue, confined space, structural collapse, trench rescue, rope rescue, etc. After finishing medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Mulcahy completed emergency medicine residency at Allegheny General Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident his final year. He elected to stay at AGH to complete his fellowship training in EMS. Prior to coming to Lancaster, Dr. Mulcahy worked as the System EMS Medical Director for Penn Highlands Healthcare. He is actively engaged in local, state, and national EMS organizations. At present, Dr. Mulcahy is Medical Director for Manheim Township Ambulance Association.
Dr. Mulcahy is currently serving as the senior medical officer for the 328th BSB of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He deployed in 2021 to Poland in support of the European Deterrence Initiative. He is also an instructor for the Advanced Combat Medical Experience course at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences.
When not at work, Dr. Mulcahy enjoys spending time with his wife and children. They enjoy spending time outdoors. He enjoys cooking and hopes to one day have his own wood fire pizza oven.
