Sub-Internships and Electives
School required sub-internship: Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine. Department required courses: Upper level elective in OBGYN. Students should complete at least one upper level OBGYN elective at the UPHS institution whose residency program they intend to apply to (Hospital of University of Pennsylvania or Pennsylvania Hospital). If students plan to apply to both residency programs, we recommend one elective at each. If students do not plan to either residency program, students may select an elective from either institution.
Highly recommended courses: 1) Additional OBGYN elective at HUP, Pennsylvania Hospital (PAH), or the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and 2) OBGYN residency preparatory course
Other helpful courses: SICU, Cardiology, Anesthesia, Adolescent Medicine, Infectious Disease, Neonatology, Endocrinology, Radiology.
